well hope you had a good christmas and will have a good new years! I've been busy as heck since Christmas Eve.
The night before Christmas Eve, hubby and I wrapped the presents and decided to drink while doing so (he beer i wine coolers) and usually I can only tolerate 2-3 and I decided to have 4 that night. BAD IDEA as I woke up the next morning for work, yes I had to work) and I was so hungover it is not even funny. I had to work 8 hours that day too, I was a mess in the morning but I felt better later in the day when I got some soup in my tummy. Moral of the story? don't drink 1 more than you can tolerate.
So on Christmas Eve I worked for 8 hours from 10-6 and then had to go home and get all the presents we wrapped, got a bunch of other stuff then drove over to my in-laws where we were going to stay the night. Got my daughter to write Santa a letter which she wrote "ADID" but in her world it meant "I want a pet as a bunny" (she was kind of tired, lol). She's such a cutie. Then we all went to sleep and waited for Santa to bring the presents.
The kids got us up at 6 am and we headed downstairs to the tree where we got to see their shocked face (first time seeing presents under the tree) then we proceeded to open them. The kids got lots of toys and games and a bike each. Hubby and I got kitchenware which was awesome and I got a 25 dollar gift certificate to Village Wool, the lys I went to in previous post, whoo hoo! I'm hoping to get there on saturday.
Then on the day after christmas, we went to New York (2 hour drive) to have lunch/dinner with hubby's family. I got to meet a few of his side of the family as I've never met them before and then some of his family that we knew from texas showed up with their kids (my kids' cousins) and they all got to play together. Her kids are 5, 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 and my kids are 5 and 2 1/2 so they all had fun playing together. We didn't get back home till 10:30 that night.
Then the next 2 days, I spent at my inlaws because the kids and their mom and grandparents stayed over there to visit (their grandmother is my mil's sister) and so we wanted to spend time with them as well as let the kids all play together while they could. We took them to Walmart and got all their pictures taken (except the 1 1/2 yo, she was not cooperating due to naptime). Their mom (let's just say her name is BEE) Bee got the pictures on a floppy disk and the pictures all came out too cute. I plan to post them on my kids blogs after this post if you want to see them.
My fil was also kind enough to drive me to a place where a freecycler was giving me a bed and some chairs since he has a truck. He's not a patient person so it was nice of him to do this for me. so now we got a bed in the kids room and some living room furniture finally (we are a little low on furniture due to the move here)
Yesterday I had to go back to work and I did not want to go at all cuz I had called out Monday since I was still in New York and they wanted a letter from the mechanic (I said my car was being worked on) and I was worried that they'd give me problems at work but nope they didn't. Instead, I got a raise, whoo hoo. I guess the minimum wage is going up so they had to get me in to the proper pay grade or whatever. Fine by me!
oh guess what? I finally bought myself Incredimail (www.incredimail.com) and I am so happy. I have wanted it FOREVER and now am a proud owner of premium. lol. Shhhhhhhh don't tell hubby, he don't know yet. I'll wait a month or two before tellin him ;)
Here are my new years resolution if you care:
Lose 30 lbs by my birthday (June 1st)
Try not to call out of work so much (I already called out 2 times this month and I think the same last month, not good)
Read more with my kids (I am not very good at that even though I want them to read since I love to read)
Manage my money better so that we can move outta this place and own a house within a few years
Here's what I been doing knitting wise:
I finished a hat for my hubby with that cascade 220 yarn from Village Wool, it came out a little too short but he still wears it (aww) . i did the hat ribbed 2x2, it's a beanie hat kindof.
My brother in law wants one too but he's getting his in acrylic (he don't care since he knows that the yarn for hubby costs money)
I'm working on a sweater for my mils dog (yes D-O-G) and it's in acrylic pink. I told her to give me 2 weeks from christmas so today I have 9 days? I am getting far but still have a bit left to do. I got the pattern online, I dont have the paper on me right now otherwise I'd type in the link.
I still gotta get to Joann's and buy the yarn for bobbilicious. I do have the needles but not the yarn.

went to my first CT lys today
i found a lys here in CT that is close to my mils house and we went today, it's called Village Wool and their selection was awesome
Here's what all i got for 24 bucks:
a hank of Cascade 220 black yarn to make my hubby's hat
2 skeins of Heirloom brand yarn in burgundy color and purple
Crystal Palace Daisy needles size 17 (for bobblicious pattern, i have tight guage so upped the needle size)
Boye DPNs size 7 for hubby's hat
Pretty good deal huh? I"m pretty proud of myself, i had to get a lecture from hubby for spending the money but oh well, i had a blast and i'd do it again. lol
I do plan to go back to that store as soon as I can to buy more yarns and needles.

Thanksgiving was awesome
we had a big turkey and lots of sides and desserts............i ate so much i couldn't eat the rest of the day, lol. even my son who loves to eat denied a bite of pie (gasps!) my son just absolutely loves food and NEVER refuses so we knew he had enough that day, lol. we went to my hubby's moms and that was the 1st time in a long time that we had an actual "family" dinner on thanksgiving, it was nice. then 2 days later was my daughter's 5th birthday. we decorated the kitchen for her and had cake and opened presents, she had a good time. later on that night we kept hearing her sing "happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me". it was really cute. we also helped decorate their house with christmas decorations and the kids got to see their christmas tree all lighted up and everything. it was a good weekend. i like living out here, just can't wait to get our own actual home that we'll own.
on to knitting/crocheting news: i'm currently working on a sweater for my mil's dachshund and dishcloths for myself and also for mil since she never used one so i thought it was time she got one. i'm also crocheting a lapghan for a boy back in wisconsin but my hubby keeps telling me to keep it in the family. i don't know why cuz i know i'll make a million more in my lifetime, lol. still no pictures to share but soon!

Our 1st wedding anniversary
was alot of fun.
we weren't sure what we were gonna do up till then, lol. we dropped the kids off at grandmas house and then we went to the casino for the 1st time. we won 40 bucks as soon as we got there and hubby wanted to leave but i didn't want to so we kept playing and lost that money. lol. well, we knew we'd lose money there so might as well enjoy it, right? then after that he decided that we'd try to find the ocean (we're only like an hour from there) so he stopped for directions and we went to new london to see part of the ocean by the long island ferry part. we walked on the fishing pier which was really cool but so dang cold! i was FREEZING! lol. we saw the fort trumbull and the us coast guard boat which was neat then we went and ate at this nice restaurant next to the boating docks and we had this nice table right next to the windows and we had a candle on the table. it was really romantic and soooooooo out of our league, lol. we had bought 1 soup and 1 plate of food and split it and it was sooooooo delicious! we are going to go back to that restaurant for our wedding anniversaries as a tradition (his idea, awwwww) and then maybe eventually we can buy 2 plates, lol. we even toasted to one another with coke in wine glasses, lol. aren't we silly? after we got done eating, we headed back to grandmas to pick up the kids and then came home. we didn't buy anything for each other but we had a really fun day. we didn't have our camera so we couldn't take a picture at the restaurant.

never doing that again
jeez what a move!! we got on the road on october 27th and we stayed at hubby's moms for a week then moved into our place here. it is definitely different than wisconsin and i will definitely miss that place but it is ok over here. just need to adjust a little bit and it's nice to be around family. i told hubby that i'm never doing that again too ugh.
first i need to post a thank you to my secret pal, she sent me a 2nd package about 2 weeks ago but i was unable to get to the internet to say thank you. she sent me 2 knitpicks blue "crayon" skeins which are really soft, she sent me a blue hue wool skein to felt a purse and some chocolate along with a card. thank you i really loved them and i can't wait to get started on the purse. i just need to figure out what i want to make with the knitpick yarn, lol.
i have been working on a lapghan for my neighbors son in wisconsin cuz i promised him that i'd make him one and i don't want to disappoint him. i'm crocheting it and doing 2 colors with stripes, it looks pretty cool. i did some dishcloths and need to get more cotton yarn so i can make potholders and more dishcloths as well because i would like to make some for my mother in law.
tomorrow will be mine and hubby's 1 year wedding anniversary and we have no clue what we wanna do, lol. i wanna go see the new harry potter movie but hubby doesn't want to do the "same ol" dinner and a movie date. we were talking about going to the casino but we wouldn't be able to spend much and we'd never went to one. we'll figure it out tonight hopefully, lol. we've been together for 8 years just weren't ready to be married till a year ago. hey it's better than rushing into a marriage before knowing we're right for each other right? lol. (no offense to those who've done it, some survive and some don't just like everything in life)
not much else has been happening around here. so here's my post and update on me and my "exciting" life! lol.

still in the old place
well we still haven't left. we ended up sticking with the original plan and are leaving this coming up friday the 28th. i have been so busy with getting the stuff out to the garage for the moving sale which went pretty good but we still have some items to get rid of before the move. I also been working my butt off at my job and cleaning the house and packing up and all the fun stuff! I so cannot wait to be gone and settled in already! I hate this moving crap, lol. my place is so tore up it's depressing me big time. I cannot stand a mess like this but there's nothing i can do about it till we get everything cleaned up and packed in to the cars. My last day of working is Tuesday and I called out of work last night cuz I wanted to get stuff done and watch my shows. Right now I'm washing all of our dirty clothes so that they can be either bagged to be used once we get there or packed to use till we get there. I still gotta do the change of address thing, the post office is way over on the other side of town and I don't want to pay a buck to do it online, lol. I have been keeping up with my knitting/crocheting though, whoo hoo. lol. I finished my daughter's scarf and finished my son's (did both in half double crochet) and i st st knitted my scarf with a size 19 needles and i have to say i did a pretty impressive job. oh i forgot to mention, i put fringes on all three so they look very impressive, lol. I'm currently working on 2 needle mittens for my son but it's taking a little longer to do. I had to frog 2 times, once because I missed a step, the second time because I missed another step then my son got ahold of them and took them completely off the needles but I was able to get them back on safely and didn't have to backtrack, whew. After I finish his mittens, I'm making a pair for my daughter then my husband wants me to make him a hat (although he don't deserve it at the moment for his lack of helping with the move) then i would like to make myself either mittens or gloves.
I did finally do some shopping for my spoilee so I'll be getting that out to her today (I should pick up my change of address form while i'm there..............hope i don't forget it) and I hope she likes what I sent her. Just a little something to keep her content till the next package comes :)
Well I must get dressed and get back to slaving........I mean moving and cleaning and tending to the kids who seemed to have turned in to demon children the last few days (probably cuz alot of their stuff is packed up, poor hunnies)
I'm not sure when I'll be able to blog again but as soon as I get the chance I will update yall and hopefully I can start posting pictures again.

thank you so much secret pal! and update on me
sorry this is sooooooo late, she sent me a package like 1 1/2 weeks ago and i'm just now getting to posting this. forgive me!
she sent me a skein of pink chenille (?) cotton yarn which is too cute! to make dishcloths with and she sent me a multi-colored skein of cotton yarn, it's primary color is black then it has pink, purple and some other colors. i'm not looking at it right now so not positive on the colors. i also got a cute card, jelly beans and some bubble bath soap. thank you so much! i really truly appreciate it!
i had to pack the yarn away though (**cries softly**) because i'm moving! i'm moving to connecticut to live closer to hubby's family. we were supposed to leave at the end of the month but we're having to leave next monday (the 17th) due to some unexpected events so i have a 2 days to get everything together for the moving sale on thursday then make sure the place is nice and spiffy clean before we leave on monday morning. i'm so not happy about having to leave this soon but hubby tells me that we'll be in a better place in life in 6 months. he better be right or i'm going major yarn shopping to put myself in a better place (**giggles**)
i did already send my spoiler my new address so buddy if you're reading this, you have to send any packages from this moment forth to the new address. lemme know if you read this :) i'll probably email it to ya, lol.
i still gotta shop for my spoilee, i feel so bad but i've been swamped with work and all this moving crap but she won't be sad once she does get a package from me. i hope to shop for her once i get to connecticut so that she'll get something for this month.
i'm gonna miss the people that i've made friendships with here and also the ladies that i formed a knitting group with. i know that i will still keep in touch with them but it's saddening to know that i won't see them in person for awhile if ever again. i know that i will make new friends where i'm going but it's hard to let go of something you already have.
on to my knitting/crocheting update:
i used the yarn from the ebay yarn i bought (posted somewhere in the archives) and made my daughter a scarf. i finally finished it yesterday and she wore it to preschool and showed it for show n tell. isn't she just too cute? lol. i'm a proud mommy today! i'm working on a scarf for my son as well cuz you can't make for one and not the other (at least i can't do that to my kids). i'm about 1/4 done so good progress on it. i'm hoping to get it done before the weekend so that he can wear it by then since it's supposed to get colder.
i'm working on a baby blanket which is about 1/2 way done but i'll have to ship it to the lady that i'm making it for (she's donating baby tubs with items in it to charities and i wanted to help, this was before i knew i was moving)
i'm working on my first sock still............it's about 1/4 done.....who knows when that thing will be done.........maybe we should do a pool on it? lol.
once i get over to connecticut i would like to make 2 needle mittens for the kids and flap gloves for hubby and i but we'll see how that goes :D
so that's all for me...........for midwest knitters volunteer who has my site, i will probably not be posting again till late november or early december which is when i hope to be settled in my new place

oooh i want this i want this! (this is for my secret pals eyes. lol)
ok, i was browsing the net and i love love love to read but have trouble reading cuz i have to debate between reading or knitting/crocheting. guess which wins most of the time? yep, knitting/crocheting.......
anyways, this is what i saw http://www.bookmatestore.com/bookmate-2.htm and i figured maybe you'd like to get it for me? lmao............oh i crack myself up.......anyways, if not you then me right? lol.
that's it for now, i'm sure i'll find something else to add to my "want list" for ya! lol.

Did I ever tell you?
about my sock that I started a while back?
i don't even remember when i started them but i unfortunately have not been working on them. that's alot of needles to deal with! lol. i have started working on them again tonight but i don't think socks will be a big obsession of mine. maybe i'll try out the circular needles method and see if i like that method.
how much have i gotten done? well the pattern is from the toe up so i did get the toe part done, now i'm working on the foot part and i'm BARELY far on that. i've gone maybe about 1-2 inches on that part *blushes*
i'm a bad sock knitter! waaaaaaaaah, oh well.........not everybody is cut out for it right? oh don't get me wrong, i'll finish this sock. let's just hope i do the second one, lol!

Hello!
Hi, just wanted to pop in and say that!
I've been working on my dishcloth for my dishcloth exchange for one of the groups that I'm in. Other than that, i been working or busy with the kids and chores.
I got to buy the years 1 to 5 set of Harry Potter books so I have started reading those. I'm on the 1st book but I love it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to read and I got a past due fine at my library that i've been too stubborn to pay (stupid me) so i have been missing reading. I do plan to go to the library and pay for my dumminess so that I can get movies and more books. I mostly read romance novels but I am interested in reading mystery but have yet to read one. lol. My mom did tell me about the Janet Evanovich (sp?) books and I am interested in reading those cuz she said it's a mixture of romance, humor and mystery and all that so it sounds like it'd be interesting to read.
I cannot wait to get a new memory card, it's driving me nuts that i can't take pictures of my works in progress and of my kids! I'm hoping I can get it within the next couple months but since we're going to be moving soon, I have to be stingy with my money (what the heck am i working for then? lol) My sp don't have to worry though, I'll make sure that i put enough aside for her to get spoiled :)
well that's about it for me right now. Talk to yall soon! :)
p.s. I forgot to mention.........if you're a mom who's interested in talking with other knitters and crocheting moms, check out my link on the sidebar. it's an msn group that's fairly new but it's slowly growing so check it out if you're interested!

My camera is broke :(
well i haven't been able to post pictures of my work cuz my camera is broke, well actually it's my memory card but still! isn't that just horrible!!!! i'm so bummed, i had pictures on the memory card of my kids and my mom when she came to visit us from texas and now i can't get to them (waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah)
i have been busy knitting of course, i wouldn't give that up!
i started on a sock for myself using this pattern http://www.magknits.com/warm04/patterns/pomsquad.htm
and the sock yarn is Regia and it's all different colors. it looks pretty awesome so far.
i am doing dishcloths as well, they are so fun! the one pattern that i LOVE LOVE LOVE to do is http://www.jimsyldesign.com/~dishbout/kpatterns/petal.html
and i started a shawl for my mom. it's in soft beige by main stay (acrylic) and the pattern is "Aran Pocket Shawl" from the book Folk Shawls. that book has great patterns! I especially love the aran pocket one because it's rectangular and it has pockets! (gasps!)
i don't remember if i updated on my hubby's crocheted blacket or not but i finished it yay! but............it's too small for him still! the blanket is taller than me and it's still too short for him, ugh. so i gotta add about another foot to it before he'll be happy. men are such high maintenance :P well at least mine is.
me.......give me a ball of yarn, a pattern, a soda and my needles and i'm happy for the day! lol.
well, i'm hoping to buy a new memory card soon. i got a job that i start next week part time which means that we'll have more money in the house and i'll have money to spend! whoo hoo! and where i work i get a discount too so i can buy a new memory card for cheap or even a new camera since my camera is almost 5 years old.
well it's off to the park with the kids today. i'm going to take my shawl with me to work on just in case they let me sit and just watch them instead of having to break my knees crawling in the tubes. i should bring my knee pads, hmmmmm. now that's a thought.
oh yea and thanks to Lynette who commented that she actually reads the posts in blogs. lol.

peek a boo
wow been a while since i last posted!
well i've been up to ALOT! no pictures but soon.
i frogged my hubby's blanket and i redid it in crocheting. i'm still working on it but i'm happier with the results this time around.
i knitted 2 triangular shawls with the non-acrylic yarn shown below. they came out cute but the orange-y one is itchy.
i crocheted a baby blanket for a friend of hubby's wife who was expecting. it came out so cute! i didnt get a picture of it though, i forgot :(
i crocheted a lap throw for myself with yarn i got from a friend of mine. the colors not that great but i love it. it's my "reading" blankie. lol.
i knitted 3 dishclothes so far.
i'm gonna make an aran pocket shawl for my mother with a soft beige color yarn (acrylic)
after i'm done with hubby's blanket then i'm gonna make myself one with crochet squares so i'm looking forward to that.
oh yea, i also casted on stitches to make myself a pair of ankle socks but i haven't went further than that. i'm kindof intimidated by dpns. lol.
but as you can tell i've been pretty busy, and i will try to get pictures taken and post them for all to see as i know people love to see pictures.
when i go blogging, i mainly look at the pictures THEN i read. lol.
if you actually read this, leave a comment to let me know if you actually read the stuff on the blogs :P

Dang Hat!

dang hat

i did this hat over two times (picture of 2nd try at hat) and i pulled my needles out cuz i seen that i dropped a stitch a few rows down! ugh, i do good when i'm on the circular needles but when it is time to transfer to dpns thatis when i mess up. i know that practice makes perfect but it sure is FRUSTRATING! i am tryin to make a floppy brim hat, notice i say TRYIN. lol. i don't want to frog this one completely as i did the first time i made an error but it is put aside for now till i have the patience to backtrack to the error.

update on hubby's blanket
i received a comment asking how his blanket was going so i figured i'd update..........i haven't been working on it too much but i am about 1/4 of the way in to the first skein being used out of 3.
i been working on the red sweaters when i had time and now i'm working on a floppy brim hat and it's gettin nice out so the kids are wanting to be out more. since my son is only 2, i have to be up and about near him so in case he hurts himself or something.

My second handmade yarn bag

2nd yarn bag

ok picture's dark and this bag is in use but you can see the basics.....i made this bag into a drawstring kind of bag so that the ball does not escape and i made a buttonhole on the bottom of the bag so that the yarn could go through there (i just got a sewing machine so getting all creative over here) but like the first bag, it doesn't work with hand-wound balls. so i definitely need a ball winder now! lol.

You know you're addicted when.........
you base your decisions for a purse on whether or not your knitting projects will fit inside it. this is beginning to happen to me. i bought a purse at goodwill that i thought would be good for my knitting but it's a little too small then today at the mall i seen a lady with a purse that i contemplated on buyin the past and the first thing i thought "i should've gotten that one!"

Practice makes perfect

practice makes perfect. this is my first try at doing the sweaters for the red sweater thing. i just used "practice" yarn to see if i could do it and i could!! so tomorrow i go and buy some yarn for this! yay!

i'm preparing to participate in the red sweater thing (click on title of this post to go to site) and help out if you can! it took me about 6 hours to get this done and that's with interruptions from my kids so minus that, it was actually about 2 hours worth of work!

i've been tagged!
i'm brand new to this kind of thing so it took me a lil bit to figure out what i was supposed to do. lol. i was tagged by AuntieKnits7 http://auntieknits7.blogspot.com/ who is in a knitting meetup group that i'm organizing (go down a couple posts and you'll see the "meetup" link. Btw, thanks for thinking of me, AuntieKnits! :)
Here are the questions I am supposed to answer:
1. How much space is left on your Tivo or Comcast box?
Don't have either one
2.Have you ever bought a DVD of a TV series and if so which one?
well i didn't buy it but my dad bought the kids "the little rascals" episodes
3. What was the last TV show that you all watched before reading this message?
i'm currently watching "UFOs: seeing is believing" on ABC
4. List 5 shows you won't miss.
Wife Swap
Lost
Extreme Makeover
Medium (all time favorite right now!)
5 o'clock news. lol.
5. Name 3 people to whom you will pass this stick.
do they have to be people with blogs? lol.

The Knitter's Bible by Claire Crompton
my husband bought me this book while we were in chicago this weekend. it is a really nice book, it's got some nice patterns and projects in it. i can't wait to try them.
for my husband's blanket, i'm going to try the celtic cable stitch for the border but we'll see how that goes since i've never used a cable needle before.
i recommend this book for those who like creative stitches

i'm really like this blog
i'm glad i figured out how to get one! lol.
i can talk about whatever i want and maybe people will be bored enough to read it. lol.
i can talk about whatever i want and maybe people will be bored enough to read it. lol.
still trying to figure this thing out
i'm still trying to figure out how to use this blog so please bear with me. lol.
the last few days i've been knitting and playing sims 2 at the same time, which are both my 2 favorite things to do so you can imagine my joy when i figured out that i could knit while playing this game! lol.
my current and only project is a blanket for my husband. i'll try to post a picture of it but am still confused as to how to add pictures to this site. but as for how much i've completed, i'd say i have about 25% percent or maybe even 30%.
how am i making it?
well, i didn't use a pattern for it, i just basically "freehanded" it by casting on 109 stitches on size 8 needles and am doing the stockinette stitch. i am using 3 skeins per row and i intend to make 3 rows plus a border around the outside. so far i have 1 row done and about 75% of the first skein on row 2. the border is the part that i'm mostly looking forward to doing because i seen this pattern that i thought was so cool. what it is, is you knit say 25 stitches and 25 rows then you purl 25 rows and keep switching so it looks like "boxes". it's really hard to explain and i know there's a name of it but i just cannot think of it at the moment.
my next project?
i want to make a felted tote bag with a pattern by fiber trends. i currently use a "fashion bug" canvas tote to carry my project and "purse items" and i truly don't like the bag but i use it cuz it's big and the handles are just right for me. i am debating on if i wanna make the felted tote bag a bright color or a neutral color for daily use.........maybe i'll just make 2! depending on how it goes. lol. i can't start this project until i finished my husband's blanket because i promised him i wouldn't take on any projects.......ugh. lol.
on the road again........
tomorrow morning me and the family are heading down to chicago to visit with family so i am bringing my project with me so i can hopefully knit on the drive. however, i think i'm driving there which stinks cuz i really want to knit. lol. definitely at the hotel room if i don't get too tired from visiting family.

i want to make a felted tote bag with a pattern by fiber trends. i currently use a "fashion bug" canvas tote to carry my project and "purse items" and i truly don't like the bag but i use it cuz it's big and the handles are just right for me. i am debating on if i wanna make the felted tote bag a bright color or a neutral color for daily use.........maybe i'll just make 2! depending on how it goes. lol. i can't start this project until i finished my husband's blanket because i promised him i wouldn't take on any projects.......ugh. lol.
on the road again........
tomorrow morning me and the family are heading down to chicago to visit with family so i am bringing my project with me so i can hopefully knit on the drive. however, i think i'm driving there which stinks cuz i really want to knit. lol. definitely at the hotel room if i don't get too tired from visiting family.

my new blog
i created this because i thought it'd be fun to share my creations with others.
i only began knitting in june 2004 so i am still new to it, i've started on 4 projects but have only finished 2 of them. One of the finished project was a christmas stocking for a lady in town and the other was 2 scarves for my daughter's preschool teachers. I will post the pictures on here later today.
